Anna Wandtke
Anna Wandtke was born in 19.09.1980 in Gdansk. She graduated with honours from Primary and High School of Music in Gdansk. She completed her higher education by receiving highest honours diploma from Academy of Music in Gdansk in 2003, where she mastered her violin performing skills in the class of Professor Krystyna Jurecka. In 2005 she also completed with honours a violin course in Hochschule fur Music in Mannheim, Germany, where she studied with Professor Waleri Gradow.
She has received prizes in numerous violin competitions in Poland and abroad:4th Prize in the Regional Violin Auditions for Primary Schools in Malbork;2nd Prize and Youngest Competitor Prize in the Baltic Young Violinists Contest in Gdansk; 2nd Prize in the National G.Bacewicz Chamber Music Competition for String Instruments in Lodz;2nd Prize in the International Chamber Music Competition in Klingenthal, Germany; final stage in the National Violin and Piano Duets Competition in Zakopane. Distinction in the National Z.Jahnke Violin Competition in Poznan;3rd Prize in the International J.Rogister Violin Competition in Vervier, Belgium; 1st Prize in the Internal Gdansk Academy of Music J.S.Bach Competition.She was also chosen the only Northern Poland candidate to participate in the XII International H.Wieniawski Violin Competition in Poznan.
She has received scholarships from the Minister of Culture in Poland and also from the President of Gdansk. The music activity in years 2000 and 2001 resulted with the nomination for the Red Rose Prizes. In the 2002 Ania won a Prize for ‘Young Creative Personalities of Gdansk’ and in 2003 she won an artistic scholarship ‘DAAD’ competing with other Mannheim Hochschule students.
She has performed as a soloist with various orchestras: Filharmonia Baltycka, Kameralna Wojciecha Rajskiego, Niekonwencjonalna Orkiestra Kameralna, Akademicka Orkiestra Symfoniczna) And she has also made appearances with solo recitals in many Polish cities(Poznan, Katowice, Łódź, Słupsk, Koszalin, Wrocław, Gdańsk) and also abroad (Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium)
Since 2004 she has been co-operating with SWR Rundfunkorchester Kaiserslautern as a chamber music artist and she has been also recording for the German broadcast station SWR2 there.
In 2002 she joined the International UBS Verbier Festival Orchesrta under James Levine. And she has remained ever since. As its member Ania has worked with artists such as Kurt Masur, Paavo Jarvi, Chick Corea, Gidon Kremer, Vadim Repin, Mscislaw Rostropowich, Evgeny Kissin, Maxim Vengerow, Nigel Kennedy and the others all of whom are collaborating with Deutsche Gramaphon.
In 2005 she has become a member of M.Vengerov’s International Chamber Orchestra, which co-operate with EMI Record Company.
She also is a member of Ensemble de Narol of Tytus Wojnowicz and the Xerxes Strings Ensemble. She is often invited to play in Sinfonia Varsovia and Sinfonietta Cracovia.
Being an independent musician she stands out as a violinist of a vibrant cultural activity. She has been taking part in numerous artistic projects in Poland and worldwide.
