Leszek Wachnik
Leszek Wachnik graduated with distinction from Warsaw Academy of Music, bassoon class – Prof. Zbigniew Płużek (1995). He is a prizeman of many bassoon competitions a. o: 2nd prize of the Wind Instruments Competition in Olsztyn 1988 and the 1st prize in 1990, 2nd prize of the All-polish Bassoon Competition in Włoszakowice 1996, 1st prize of the Bassoon Competition in Sieradz . In 1991 he got the Yamaha Scholarship and in 1997 the Wiener Philharmoniker Scholarship. Between 1992-1993 he was a member of the Polish Radio Orchestra and in 1993 he became a principal bassoonist of the National Philharmonic Orcestra. From 1992 he collaborates with the “Sinfonia Varsovia” and the “Camerata Vistula”. He is also a co-founder of the Reed Quartet “Arundo”. From 1997 he leads his own bassoon class in the F. Chopin Secondary Music School in Warsaw. For many years he performs both abroad and in his homeland. Besides of the classical repertoire he is also interested in the contemporary music. As a soloist and chamber musician he recorded a lot of music, especially for Polish Radio. In 2001 he was honored by the Minister of Culture, and received the title “Meritorius Culture Popularizer”.
